ANCIENT ROME "Sulla had victimized by his slaves GRANIO Magistrate Puzzolo because differed payments". Lucio Cornelio Silla (138 BC - 78 BC) and Roman military dictator in 79 BC after a long and glorious career he retired from political life and take refuge in his villa in Cuma; seriously ill; he devoted himself to compiling his memoirs; and dictated a code of laws for settling differences arose in the nearby town of Pozzuoli. Hearing that GRANIO; magistrate of the town; had a debt towards it and postponed the payment in expectation of his imminent death with the intent to escape unpunished pecuniary burden; summoned him to his room and made him choke under his eyes from the servants.
