He is plainly dressed in a dark frock-coat; a red cordon supporting the badge of the Bath; the star of the same order upon his breast. On the table to the left lies an address from the principal residents in Lahore; presented to Montgomery upon his retirement; the carved ivory case in which the address was enclosed is seen in his left hand. In the background is the mosque of Dai Anga; the nurse of Shah Jahan; by whom it was erected at Lahore in 1635.
