A handwritten note under this caption reads: 鈥楢 definite 鈥榝ake': it is a photograph of practice manoeuvres. Dr Girdwood was expressly forbidden to describe it as a real scene of action. [signed] M.C. They record scenes of military life as experienced by the Indian and British armies in France during the First World War.
