Richard Barron.South view of the fort at Madikeri; Coorg; 1835.In 1812 Linga Rajendra of Coorg constructed a European style brick palace measuring 200 feet square inside the fort. The British took control of Madikeri in 1834. On the south side of the palace there was a Virabhadra temple which was torn down and replaced by a church in 1855.
