Private William Jones defending one of the wards in the field hospital at the Battle of Rorke's Drift, South Africa in January 1879 during the Anglo-Zulu War. He received the Victoria Cross in recognition of his bravery. From The Strand Magazine, Vol I January to June, 1891.
