Le Duc d'Orl閍ns; Ferdinand; duc d'Orl閍ns; (1810-1842); was the eldest son and heir of King Louis-Philippe. He was a successful military leader; and popular with the public because of his liberal political vews. He was killed after being thrown from a light carriage; ending the hopes of the Orl閍ns dynasty after the abdication of Louis-Philippe and the establishment of the short-lived Second Republic of 1848.Image taken from Les Rois contemporains.
