THE MADABA MAPMadaba; Jordan at the Greek orthodox Church of St George has a mosaic and floor map of Palestine highlighting 157 biblical sites of the region;made around; AD 542. The mosaic is part of the floor of St. George close to MADABA-JORDAN. In 1884; during the construction of a new Greek Orthodox church on the site- December 1964; the Volkswagen Foundation gave the Deutscher Verein f黵 die Erforschung Pal鋝tinas ("German Society for the exploration of Palestine") 90;000 DM to save the mosaic. In 1965; the archaeologists Heinz C黳pers and Herbert Donner;for restoration and conservation of the remaining parts of the mosaic.
