History of Paris / JusticeThe Gibbet of Montfaucon; circa 1450.Set up in Paris on the hill of Montfaucon; a hundred and fifty meters from the present place of Colonel Fabien; this gibbet has worked from the beginning of the 9th century until the reign of Louis XIII. Remodeled in 1416 during the Hundred Years War; following the insurrection of Paris into a spectacular portico; it is used less from the reign of Henry IV and the end of the wars of Religion.
