Maria Leczinska (1703-1768); daughter of King Stanislaus of Poland and Catherine Opalinska. In 1725 she married Louis XV; and gave him ten children. After the last; difficult childbirth; she walked away from her husband with whom; however; remained always dignified formal relations. He did not participate actively in the political life of the country; but during the long absences of the king often represented on social occasions; welcome to the people by his grace and benevolence; was a lover of arts and patron of musicians; painters and writers.
