Every year on Feb. 14 (Valentine's day); hundreds of lovers swear for love and faithfulness in front of the grave of the Saint Patron of lovers in the basilica of Terni near Rome; Italy. Inside the church; paintings refering to events in the life of St. Valentine.During the ceremony; couples are given a document signed by the rector of the basilica and mayor of the city; which certifies that both lovers have sworn love and faithfulness in front of St. Valentine's grave.The 'Promises celebration' is presided by the bishop of Terni; his Lordship Vincenzo Paglia.
