Emperor T? ?c (22 September 1829 - 17 July 1883) (full name: Nguy?n Ph鷆 H?ng Nh?m; also Nguyen Phuc Thi) was the fourth emperor of the Nguy?n Dynasty of Vietnam and reigned from 1847-1883.
The son of Emperor Thi?u Tr?; Prince Nguy?n Ph鷆 H?ng Nh?m succeeded his father on the throne; with the reigning title of T? ?c; but family troubles caused his era to have a violent start. Thi?u Tr? had passed over his more moderate eldest son; H?ng B?o; to give the throne to T? ?c; known for his staunch Confucianism and opposition to foreigners and innovation. As a result; and due to the repressive policies of the previous Nguy?n Dynasty emperor; there was now a great deal of dissatisfaction with Nguy?n rule and a legitimate royal figure to rally this opposition.
Hue was the imperial capital of the Nguyen Dynasty between 1802 and 1945. The tombs of several emperors lie in and around the city and along the Perfume River. Hue is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
