NEWSPAPERS cover of the weekly illustrated "Emporio Picturesque"; dedicated to the problem of child exploitation. "We protect childhood; Maria Antonia Tardogno of 11 years and Maria Gargano years 9 victims of the master Antonio Bridle in New York"; the two small emigrants are depicted holding the violin; an instrument used during the exercise of their work as a beggar; but the text suggests that much worse was in store for them by man that he "took care" after being torn from their families. The numbers of "Emporio Picturesque - Universal Illustration" were sold individually or by subscription; in "common" version or "luxury"; subscribers received covers; title pages and indexes to bind the collection in half-yearly volumes. Year XVI; n. 778 from July 27 to August 2; Publisher Edward Sonzogno; Milano 1879
