Venerable William Joseph Chaminade (1761-1850) in 1816 founded the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate in 1817 and the Society of Mary (Marist). He lived in France between 1761 and 1850 and worked mostly in Bordeaux. He passed through the terrible years as a young priest of the French Revolution succeeded with a few brave to leave the city and to exercise his priestly ministry clandestinely. In 1917 he was introduced to her cause of canonization; which in 1973 reached the last stage of the u0026#39;human processu0026#39; with the official declaration of the u0026#39;heroic virtuesu0026#39; and the subsequent assignment of the title u0026#39;Venerableu0026#39;. It was proclaimed u0026#39;Blessedu0026#39; September 3; 2000
