Umbria The old husband "oak" kneeling at his wife; it is a time of 'the Old Saw;' rite of mid-Lent of the rural world: in the pantomime carried from house to house; the old / oak is found and "knocked down" by the two "sawyers"; at which point occurs by searching old husband; and all damage done to bring it back to life; an operation that succeeds perfectly; symbolizing the eternal renewal of spring.
