STUTTHOF (1939-1945) The meal of one of the first inmates in the field engaged in the manufacture of the field itself. The Germans settled in Stutthof in September 1939; a wooded area west of Stutthof (Sztutowo); a small town about 22 miles east of Danzig (Gdansk). Initially it was a camp of civilians under the direction of the police of Gdansk; in November 1941; he became a labor camp run by the German police in January 1942 and then became a concentration camp.
