The Orthodox Cathedral (Saborna crkva) was finished in 1841 in the centre of the Serbian quarter of Belgrade. On this place; before there was a wooden church; dedicated to St Michael; and built in 18th century. To the left and to the rigth of the entrance are the graves of Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic (1789 - 1864) and Dositej Obradovic (1739 - 1811). The great iconostasis was realized by Dimitrije Avramovic; his icons are in style of early romanticism. The whole church architecture is in style of classicism. In front of the iconostasis can be found; since 1941 only; the relics of despot Saint Stevan Stiljanovic (died 1540). There are also the graves of pince Milos and his son Mihailo and of Patriarch Gavrilo Dozic (died 1950); inside. Dozic was imprisoned in a Nazi concentraiton camp; during World War II.
