Nicola Tesla was a Serbian American inventor and scientist who left Serbia to become US American citzien; in 1891. He invented the induction motor and AD Current system of electricity (alternating current; Wechselstrom); worked for Thomas Alva Edison and became; in cooperation with Westinghouse and later on with J.P. Morgan bank; the biggest scientific enemy of Edison; when the war of the currents started (end of the 1880s to beginning of 1890s). Edison had invented the DC system (direct current system; Gleichstrom). The battle between both systems culminated with the invention of the electric chair; used to realize death penalties. As an electric engineer; Tesla also invented the Tesla Polyphase System; in 1893 (patent). Tesla was also involved in the research of x-ray and the development of the radio. in 1899; he developed in Colorado Springs the Tesla coil transmitter. An advanced version is the magnifying transmitter. Several patents followed. In 1901; Marconi defeated Tesla being the first to transmit letters between England and Newfoundland. Today; Tesla is seeen also as a classical and difficult to handle mad scientist; but in fact; he was a genius. In 1928; Tesla received his last patent for a biplane capable of taking off vertically (VTOL aircraft). Later in life; Tesla made claims concerning a "teleforce" weapon after studying the Van de Graaff generator. These were the first steps to construct a lazer weapon.Today; Belgrade airport is named after Tesla (Nicola Tesla International Airport). As well; e-mobility and electro car invention are strongly connected with the name Tesla. The biggest e-car company in USA; the Californian Tesla Company; is honouring him in its name. A shame: Tesla never received the Nobel Prize.
