Light-dependent resistor. Also known as photoresistors or photoconductors, light-dependent resistors are electrical devices that change their resistance with varying light levels. In darkness a typical photoresistor would have a resistance of over one million ohms) while in sunlight this could drop to about 100 ohms. They are usually made from a cadmium sulphide based semiconductor.
