Ichthyostega is one of the oldest amphibian fossils known. It had four legs, seven-toed feet, a webbed tail and a body covered in scales, similar to that of a fish.This amphibian, which measured up to 3 feet (1 m) in length, breathed with the help of its lungs and possibly through its skin, too, just like modern amphibians.
