The Arc of Germanicus. Erected in 18-19 AD and standing at the entrance of a bridge; it acted as the town gate when arriving on the Roman road from Lyon. There is an inscription to the Emperor Tiberius and his nephews Germanicus and Drusus on the attic. The genealogy of Ca飖s Julius Rufus; the Santon who paid for the arc to be built; is given on the entablature. It was saved by Prosper M閞im閑 when the bridge was destroyed in 1843; and dismantled and rebuilt on the right bank. City of Saintes. Charente Maritime. France.
