USA 1777-1778 George Washington (1732-1799) in Valley Forge. The winter passed by the US Army at Valley Forge; poorly equipped facing hunger and cold; he was one of the most critical periods of the war of the revolution. Here General Washington is represented along the French aristocrat Gilbert du Motier de Lafayette (1757-1834) and the Prussian officer Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben (1730-1794); while giving a word of encouragement to the guard during an inspection on the lines .
