Ben SHAHN (1898-1969) study for the portrait of Dag Hammarskjold (1962). The Swedish diplomat was general secretary of the UN in 1953; in the 1961 was assigned posthumous the Nobel prize to it for the Peace. He died in an aircraft incident for causes never clarified; while he was engaged to resolve the crisis of the civil war in the Congo.
