Three young farm laborers; Antonia Calignano; Mario Calo and Luciano Valentini; were killed by the police during the demonstrations to protest the fall in the price of grapes''. The coffin paraded under a typical arch of flowers woven palm leaves; according to the local funeral tradition now lost.
