Saint MARTIRE Policarpo of Izmir (69 approximately - 155) has been a bishop and ancient Greek theologian; disciple of Giovanni apostle; divenne bishop of Izmir (in the Asia Minor) during the reign of Trajan: like theologian; it enjoyed great authority and it was one of the estimated shepherds more of the time. During the empire of Antoninus Pius it was martirizzato on the rogo; but since the flames did not consume it was killed with a dagger blow.
