LILAC (Wisteria sinensis) from China; is a climbing shrub; hardy and vigorous; with strong root system that spreads easily; twining stems that reach 10-20 m in height depending on the support; deciduous leaves; imparipinnate; consisting of 7-13 oval-lanceolate leaves with the sharp apex; hermaphrodite flowers and scented with papilionacea corolla blue-violet or mauve; meeting in showy clusters hanging 20-30 cm long; with blooms in late winter early spring; the fruit is a legume 8-15 cm in length; were selected varieties with white flowers; rose; violet.
