John the Baptist RUBIES (1794-1854); Italian tenor; he began his singing career at 18 in the chorus of the Teatro Ricciardi of Bergamo; near his hometown. Officially debuted as a solo artist in 1814 and then he held numerous roles in countless works of Italian composers; until 1847 when he retired from the stage. This is portrayed as Arturo appear in the debut of 'I Puritani' by Vincenzo Bellini. Watercolor 1835.
