SAN PIO V Ghislieri Michael Antonio (1504-1572). Pope of the Counter-Reformation; its austere government was marked by charity and to return to the canons of the Church of Christian poverty; the rejection of the pomp and hypocrisy of the papal court. Grand Inquisitor from 1558; elected Pope in January 1566; he made numerous bubbles to improve the morals of the people; and in 1569 promulgated the bubble Hebraeorum gens; which led to anti-Jewish complete the process begun by Pope Paul IV; forcing into exile every Israelite who do not lived in the ghettos of Rome and Ancona; on pain reduction in perpetual servitude.
