CLOWN couple of clowns; the White and Augustus; classical figures of the Western tradition circus; the first (dressed in white and with a pointed hat) is authoritarian; strict; precise; skilful and able to do; the second is incapable; clumsy and bewildered (oversize dresses and giant shoes). Their interaction with so opposing characters gives rise to comic moments enter- tainment. No. 8 - the grins White with a shoe in his hand; threatening to turn the Augustus immediately drops his airs and takes off his hat in submissive attitude; It increases the comic effect with the written joke spelling rather questionable (maybe dialect): Moa calmed vô tout de souite! (Moi calm down vous tout de suite; I will calm down immediately). Figurine French chromolithographic; XIX century
