Giovanni Maria Damiani (1832-1908) Captain of Cavalry; Italian patriot; Bursar of the University of Bologna. He volunteered yet fifteen in the Sardinian army; participated in the campaign of 1848; He was exiled in Turkey; in France and in London with Mazzini until 1859; when he returned to Italy in the Guide to Horse of Garibaldi; and the following year he left with the Thousand of Marsala at a time. He committed suicide seventy-six years old; severely tried by his serious health condition and perhaps embittered by the distance between the ordinary reality of the new company and the world dreamed of in his youth. Photographic reproduction of the painting by Antonio Puccinelli of 1872; enriched the autograph for the fund 'Society of Veterans of Battles Patrie'; Italy; circa 1900 <br> Cite the credit: "Courtesy of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism - Archive".
