Pippi Longstocking protagonist of stories designed by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren (1907-2002) in 1941 to entertain his daughter Karin; ill with pneumonia. In 1944; during a forced stop due to a sprained ankle; the story was handwritten and illustrated as a gift for the tenth birthday of the child; the following year he won first prize in the competition organized by Raben & Sjogren and was published as a writer Astrid Lindgren consecrating.
