Saint Meinrad of Einsiedeln (approximately 797 - 861) German Benedictine priest; led the life of a hermit and was killed in Einsiedeln by two robbers who thought guardian of hidden treasures and beat him to death to take it; According to tradition; the robbers were then chased and unmasked by two crows; grateful to the saint who had saved them from a bird of prey.
