SANTA CATERINA From Genoa (Catherine Fieschi Adorno; 1447-1510) religious and mystical Italian. Born into a noble family from Genoa and married off very young for political reconciliation with the family Adorno; lived the first ten years of marriage; leading a miserable life frivolous and worldly but; like her husband. After meeting with her sister nun she had a mystical vision that led her to reconsider her entire life; beginning a journey in which he followed the husband; he dedicated himself intensely to the spiritual life in the study that the religious practice of mercy through the care of the sick and needy; revealing also organizational skills and innovative rarely in his time has been granted to a woman to develop; and that led direction Hospital Pammatone. Active protagonist of the renewal of the Catholic Church; is known under the title of 'Doctor of Purgatory'; for his 'Treatise on Purgatory' in which he wanted to explain in simple terms his mystical experience.
