SAN FLORIANO (? - 304) Wooden statue representing the Saint in the act of extinguishing a fire with a single bucket of water; as the tradition says that he managed to do in his youth. Veteran of the Roman army in the Norian; the historic region of today's Austria; Floriano had official business in the city of Cetium; and secretly embraced Christianity. In 303; the persecution of Christians broke out; he wanted to show its solidarity with our brothers in faith; he was arrested; tortured and sentenced to death by drowning; thrown into the river with a millstone around his neck. It invoked against floods; fires and burns. It is the patron saint of Austria; Poland; the fire; the chimney sweeps and blacksmiths. Feast on May 4. Sculpture attributed to Giovanni Martini (1470-1535).
