Converted to Catholicism by the White Fathers of Cardinal Charles Lavigerie; were killed during the anti-Christian persecution in their home country (1885-1887); commemorating June 3. The Christian Fathers wore a cultural message that was opposed to the tribal traditions of the ancient independent kingdom of Buganda; attracting the hostility of the king Mwanga II who reacted by ordering a massacre of Christians; many of them little more than teenagers.
