STAMP St. Charles Lwanga (1865 - 1886) head of the pages of the court of the King of Buganda; Mwanga II. Converted to Catholicism by the White Fathers of Cardinal Charles Lavigerie; was killed during the anti-Christian persecution in his country (1885 - 1887); memorial June 3; depicted along with San Mbaga Tuzindé (17 years) and St. Kizito (15 years); both of the clan Mmamba. The Christian Fathers wore a cultural message that was opposed to tribal traditions; attracting the hostility of the monarch who reacted by ordering a massacre of Christians; many of them little more than teenagers.
