Bohuslav Martinů (1890-1959) Czech-born American composer. According violin Czech Philharmonic Orchestra until 1923; then moved to Paris where he met Igor 'Stravinsky and Arthur Honegger; during the First World War took part in the cultural ferment of the School of Paris. The war of World War II forced him to leave France in 1940 to take refuge with his wife in the United States; which in 1952 granted him citizenship. Photographic portrait twentieth century
