Pictured as he was welcomed by his English wife Margaret and the elder of their 2 daughters, 4-year-old Adrien, at London airport today is Mr Vojtech Vogel, a prominent Czech orchestral conductor, who had just flown in by German Lufthansa plane from Berlin to seek political asylum and work as a conductor of classical music in Britain. Mr Vogel, 34, was conductor of the Prague national theatre opera when it began a visit to East Berlin in May. After the last performance of the Opera "Krumava" people did a trained to West Berlin and went to a secret location. With nearly all his possessions in Prague he only had one suitcase which he came to Britain to join his wife and children with. He will stay with his wife's parents at Cheam, Surrey, where he will meet his tow year old daughter Maria. 7 July 1956
