Holland Honours Mr Churchill By Presentation of the Grotius Medal At a ceremony at Guildhall , London , presided over by the Lord Mayor , Sir George Aylwsn , Mr Winston Churchill was presented with Grotius gold medal by a representative of the Dutch equivalent of the United Nations Association , The Vereeniging Voor Internationale Rechtsorde . The medal was instituted in 1925 , on the 300th anniversary of the publication of ' De Jure Belli et Pacie ' by Hugo Grotius , which laid the foundations of International Law Mr Winston Churchill makes his address of thanks having been presented with the Grotius gold medal by Dr Kappeyne Van de Coppello 3rd February 1949
