Police seek help in sea disappearance mystery. Southampton police authorities, today issued this photograph of Mrs Constantia , Emma Haldane Martin, a 52-year-old archaeologist from Rhodesia, who disappeared from the Southhampton Cross-Channel steamer Isle the Jersey on the fifth of November. Detectives spent the last week, making enquiries in Southampton, the Channel Islands and in Somerset in an effort to clear up the mystery, and asked for anyone who has knowledge which might assist in accounting for her disappearance to come forward. Mrs Martin had booked accommodation at the Demi de Pas Hotel, St Clements, Jersey, where she told her friends, she planned to stay pending her return to South Africa. 15 November 1947 .
