The first to training centre to be opened by the National Institute of health workers are situated in Chilton Cantelo House, a beautiful old Queen Ann period manner in rural Somerset, about 5 miles from Yeovil. During the war it was occupied by the WRN, and has been acquired by the NIH. The National Institute of health workers, which has been set up by the government to organise domestic work in Britain, provides free training for any woman or girl he wishes to make domestic work her career. Trainees receive allowances during the whole period of training which usually lasts for about 6 months.
