The hitherto all male training of Ministry of supply "boffins" has been invaded by Miss Lily Kathleen Harrison, of Tunbridge Wells, a government scientific worker engaged in the development of civil aircraft. With 13 male members of the "boffin" species, she is at present on a course of pilot training at number 3 RAF elementary flying school, Shellingford, Berkshire, where scientists are being familiarised with practical experience of flying problems. 12 October 1947
