Birdforth, ridden by well-known horsewoman Lady Mary Rose Williams, led a field of eight runners, all ridden by women, to end the historic Newmarket Town Plate today. Miss A.Gibson, riding Spinaker, and Mrs Kent on Hyland, were respectively second and third. The winner, favourite for the 4 miles race had an easy victory , and at one time, led by a furlong.
