John, a shoebill, who recently arrived at the London Zoo from Sudan, doesn't intend to be caught napping this coming winter. It appears that he has heard tales of what our climate can do to visitors from abroad, and has a precaution against that nip in the air, is receiving a daily dose of cod liver oil from his keeper. And from the expression reflected in John's eyes, it looks as if he might be on a good thing. 3 October 1947
