The first airborne manoeuvres to be held in Britain since the war began at Netheravon, Wilts, today (Monday). Known as Exercise 'Longstop' the operation includes the dropping of about 700 parachute troops in an initial assault. Glider men, more parachute troops and parachuted jeeps and six founders will be dropped to support them. Three battalion's are participating, two, and the first parachute and glider phase, the third, with supporting arms, arriving by aircraft when the airfield is securely held.
