Getting safety minded. Islington Borough Council, mindful of the dangers two young children using the London streets, have today (Monday) introduced a first-class practical method of instilling road safety into its youngest citizens. A portable 'roadway', which traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, Belisha Beacons and other safety devices is making its way around the seven nursery schools operated by the Borough. In this way the children, all under five, are instructed in correct behaviour in traffic crowded roads, and the lessons learned Hill should bring about a lessening in the toll of casualties among children in busy streets. The mobile 'classroom' will make a series of visits to each of Islington's nursery schools. Photo shows, traffic stops as kiddies make their way across the pedestrian crossing at Windsor Street Day Nursery, Islington, today (Monday). 22 September 1947
