The inquest on 47-year-old ex-Waaf officer Mrs Leone Maxine Russell-Andrews, said to have been in fear of blackmail by another woman, was resumed at Morton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire. Mr J.D. Lane, the coroner, had refused to grant a cremation order when Mrs Russell-Andrews, of "Murtmore", died on August 5th, after lying for five days in a coma. After a post-mortem ordered by the coroner, chemists told of prescriptions for large quantities of medinal tablets - a sleeping drug. Picture shows: Mrs Kate Ruby Payne, part-time member of the civil nursing reserve, who at intervals since December 23rd, acted as housekeeper to Mrs Russell-Andrews, pictured at Morton-in-Marsh today, when she was called as an important witness to the inquest. 5 September 1947
