The pilot and navigator, sole occupants of a RAF Transport Command Dakota, both died when the aircraft crashed and burst into flames when circling to land at Manston airfield, near Margate, this afternoon. N.F.S fire tenders from Margate and two RAF crash tenders were soon on the scene. The plane burned furously in the centre of some open farmland; the petrol tanks appeared to explode on impact. 28 August 1947
