The 'Met' service puts to sea. The first of the new Air Ministry Ocean 'Weather Ships' to be completed is now at the London Docks, ready to be put to sea to take up station in the Atlnatic. Altogether 13 stations are planned to be set up in the North Atlantic from which meterological observations of surface and upper air conditions can be made at regular intervals. The ships, which have a maximum speed of 16 knots and a loaded displacement of 1,400tons, will spend 27 days at sea. Members of the crew will wear a new uniform comprising of blue battle dress and blue beret with special Ocean Weather Service badges.
