The BOAR direct service to South Africa, which has been naed Springbok, was inaugurated on Saturday, 10 November in the presence of Lord Winster, (the Minister for Civil Aviation) and Lord Knollys, Chairman of Boar. A Avro York aircraft took off from Hurn airport near Bournemouth at 5pm, GMT on the first Springbok Service mail and passenger flight to Johannesburg.
