Mis Norma Parnaby, Sunderland office will has realised her ambition at the early age of 16, and will be helping to navigate a four engined Halifax freight plane on a 3000 mile two-day trek across Europe. She owes her right to act as official assistant navigator for the trip to the fact that she won an air company's competition with her essay on "why I want to become a navigator". She is a member of the Sunderland branch of the Women's Junior Air Corps. 24 July 1947
